So a few days ago I went to my alma mater, the New School--where I received my MFA in Creative Writing back in 1999--and was interviewed by the lovely Gabriel Don (a fellow New School MFA graduate, class of 2013) about my book, Purpose and Devil Piss. The poet Amanda Smeltz (another New School alumna, class of 2011) was interviewed by Gabriel at the same time. This was my first interview ever, so it was an unusual but fun experience. And it allowed me to discover the work of two new poets.
Check out the interview here: http://newschoolwriting.org/gabriel-don-fiction-13-talks-amanda-smeltz-poetry-11-robert-siek-poetry-99/.
Then read some of Amanda Smeltz's work online at sites like these: http://pankmagazine.com/piece/crown-for-a-natural-disaster/ or http://www.phantomlimbpress.com/phantom_limb/Issue_7_Spring_2013/amanda_smeltz.html.
And if you like what you've read, then buy her book, Imperial Bender, published by Typecast Publishing, at http://www.typecastpublishing.com/imperialbender/.
